Frequently asked questions

Do hot tubs and pools need special electrical codes? +

Absolutely. NEC Article 680 governs pool and hot-tub wiring—it's strict. Requires GFCI breakers, bonding of metal surfaces, proper grounding, and weatherproof disconnects within 5 feet. We're fluent in 680; safety is non-negotiable.

How far can a hot tub be from the electrical panel? +

NEC doesn't specify distance, but practical wire runs over 100 feet require upsizing wire gauge, adding cost. We calculate the exact amperage your tub needs (usually 50A or 60A), size the circuit accordingly, and run it safely underground if needed.

Can I run a hot tub on my existing 100A residential service? +

Usually yes, but we check your main panel capacity. A 50A tub + 100A service leaves room, but if your AC and heat pump are already maxed out, we may need to upgrade to 200A. We measure existing loads and give you options.
