Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Cat6 and Cat6A cabling? +

Cat6 supports gigabit (1 Gbps) reliably to 100 meters; Cat6A supports 10-gigabit to 100 meters. Cat6A is thicker, costlier, but future-proof. For most offices and homes, Cat6 is sufficient today. We install whichever your network architect specifies and test every run.

Do I need fiber backbone in my building? +

For multi-building campuses or future 40-gigabit speeds, yes. Single-building offices can use Cat6A. Fiber (OM3, OM4, or single-mode) is future-proof but costlier and requires specialized termination skills. We design based on your growth plans.

What does a permanent-link test report certify? +

We use a Fluke Versiv tester to verify every cable run meets Cat6 or Cat6A specs: length, attenuation, near-end crosstalk (NEXT), and alien crosstalk (ACRF). You get a detailed report (PDF) for every run and a summary. All runs should PASS before you accept the job.

★★★★★

“Great pricing and very fast communication for an Ethernet install job. After the installation it turned out that one of the wire runs from the install was bad, and JA IT was out the morning after the fault was discovered to fix it. Outstanding follow-through.”
